Hey, my name is Jacobie Strange, and my journey with ceramics started in 2022. I discovered my love for this medium when I took a pottery class with some friends. While my first creations weren’t anything to gawk at, I felt profoundly happy to have created them, and felt like a new life path had opened itself up to me. As I have continued in my years creating ceramics, I noticed myself always revolving around the same theme: there are a potentially infinite number of things we don’t understand all around us, but even despite that lack of understanding we can find beauty in it all. I create pottery to explore and express that idea. The idea that so much in our world—people, the universe, life itself—remains deeply mysterious and often misunderstood. Even though we can’t always fully grasp these things, their beauty shines through in the unknown. Through my work, I want to invite you to experience that delicate balance between mystery and beauty, and stay curious about the world around us. Sharing my pottery with you is my way of connecting over the wonder that lies just beneath the surface of everything around us.
